My personal vote falls very much on the circumcision side of things; not because I’m Jewish, but because I find a cut man more attractive, cleaner
ME. I would never dream of asking a woman to change her intimate anatomy to cater to my taste or fetish or whatnot. I expect the same of the woman in my life. Make your peace with my having all the bits Mother Nature saw fit to hand me, or goodby.

, and in this day and age with HIV running loose, every little (or big, I don’t judge!) advantage is a good one.
ME. Condoms and fidelity nip HIV in the bud; don't nip the foreskin. Circ may make men more reluctant to use condoms. Circ may cause some men to find vaginal intercourse boring and to experiment with less safe activities.

I am sure there are men out there who miss their foreskins so much that they write poetry about it, but I’ve never met them. My husband has never said that he dreams at night of having an extra half inch where it really doesn’t count, and
ME. Trust me. There are men, including Jewish men, who are quite angry and sorrowful that they are missing a natural part of their sexual anatomy. What you describe as "really doesn't count" is the part of the male body that interacts most richly with the vaginal wall during intercourse. It also is a hard biological fact that what circ discards has a very rich nervous system. Hence it's a lot more than mere skin. Moreover, if you were cut in the first week of life, you have no basis for knowing what you are missing. There are also circumcised men who do fine in their 20s and 30s, who are miserable in later life. American sex research has had its head in the sand about the possibility that circumcision sometimes damages adult pleasure and functionality.

it’s my understanding that sex with circumcised men can go on for longer.
ME. This is not necessarily true, and even if it were true, that would not necessarily be a good thing. The objective is not to make sex last and last, but for couples to climax together, more than once. Quite a few women report that they are more likely to climax together and repeatedly with an intact partner.

Foreskins are coming back.
ME. Agreed.

Most penises (penii?) that children see in health text books are circumcised. This can lead to confusion.
ME. Agreed. But if American young people were shown short arms with long sleeves, that would make boys feel very weird and insecure, and make the girls itch with curiosity for some hands-on time...

In my defense, I had never seen an uncircumcised penis, so when I rolled off the bed screaming, “WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!?!” it wasn’t like I had seen a whole lot of “turtlenecks” before in my life.
ME. You know that the term is for your reaction? Genital provinciality. Serves you right for lusting after a foreign goy.

I say fine because since then, I have read articles that say that sex with an uncircumcised man can be much more pleasurable. The extol on the virtues of that half-inch of skin like it was the best thing since, um, unsliced bread. Really? I gotta be honest: it was ok. He was probably one of the better lovers I have ever had, but believe me, it wasn’t the flap of skin that did it.
ME. You'll agree that it didn't make things worse? At the tender young age, did you really have the sexual sophistication to appreciate what that moving skin could do for your relationship? I am intact, and it was only after being married for several years that I began to appreciate what my foreskin added to my marriage.

If you’re Jewish or Muslim, the decision is pretty much taken out of your hands; it is considered a physical marker of your faith, for better or worse.
ME. Do you know how weird that strikes the rest of humanity? That belonging to certain religions requires putting a cattle brand on a man's most private and sexual place, the tip of his penis?

If your faith does not practice ritual circumcision, then you and your partner may have at least one conversation coming up.
ME. I can assure you that nowadays, some Jewish couples are having this very tense convo. Because there are some Jewish women who detest bris. For starters, it feeds Jewish masculine superiority.

So, why are more American men starting out on the sexual playing field, uhh, fully equipped? Well, it is an elective procedure, and nobody wants to cause their child pain if they don’t have to.
ME. Lidocaine has been marketed since 1950. It did was almost never used during baby circ until about 10 years ago. Many doctors still don't use it; those that do, often don't use it right. Mohels should use lidocaine, but almost never do.

Additionally, though some studies suggest that circumcised men have a lower probability of contracting STDs, it hasn’t been clinically proven.
ME. Even if it were proven, why should I assume that my son will grow up to be a trashy manwhore, and then alter his body thinking to lessen the adverse consequences of his irresponsibility? Boys and girls should be urged to raise their comfort level re condoms, and/or to marry in their early 20s and be faithful.

Then, of course, there’s the “glam” factor: Europeans do it, so why shouldn’t we?
ME. It's not just glam but common sense. Europe and Japan are indeed medically sophisticated cultures that do not circumcise. I've been waiting for 30 years for a "study" claiming that European and Japanese men or women are more likely to suffer from this or that health problem, suspected of being caused by filth under the foreskin. I'm still waiting. Australia, Canada, and New Zealand tried circumcision for 1-2 generations and then mostly gave it up. No problems, as best as I can determine.

But, as a woman, I have to say that there were some drawbacks to dating a man who was “fully intact.” For example, I like to think that I give a pretty good blow job. I mean, how many women actually study the anatomy of a penis to get a better technique? But with a foreskin, not only is there an extra piece to my, err, puzzle, but I just didn’t know what to do with it.
ME. <sound of millions of European women slapping their thighs and guffawing...>
The "extra" piece adds to the fun, dear, not the puzzlement!

Not only that, but how do you really deep clean that? I mean, most men with foreskins don’t pull them ALL the way back to clean them in the shower. So how do you make sure that everything is spick-and-span? Ummm, well, you kinda don’t. Of course my boyfriend was a clean man, but it was like trying to sanitize your bellybutton: those deep grooves make it hard!
ME. Here you really don't know what you are talking about. If the foreskin retracts completely and freely (it does in the vast majority of intact men and I and other men emphatically do completely expose the glans in the shower), it is utterly trivial to keep the "preputial sack" clean. It is trivial to clean under there in the bathroom sink, without disrobing and without European bidet. It is also your prerogative as his lover to inspect and clean him to your satisfaction.

ME. An aging gay men recently told me that he estimates he has been up close and personal with about 1500 penises in his lifetime. He cannot recall being grossed out by a single one. Men naturally freshen up before cruising for pleasure.

I just read your article regarding the news that foreskin is making a cum back (sorry). As a man who was not circumcised until I was 30; I would like to point out to you that sex with that bit of skin is so much better with it than without it-in my humble view.

Let me try to explain. There are so many nerves in that bit of excess skin that the removal of them makes sex less exciting and pleasurable. You mentioned accidently screaming when you saw that English pecker. You seem to have the American view of the world. That’s ok, each one of us has a bit of foolishness each must overcum (again, sorry).

But I am wondering, the foreskin is protection for the most sensitive part of a man’s body. If you take a close look at the foreskin on this mans pecker, you would have seen the small brownish ‘ring’ around the end of the foreskin. This small ring has a special name that I do not remember right now, but it has a bucket load of nerves that are simply amazing. After circumcising, those wonderful feelings are gone. I MISS THEM! They are really cool and if a partner is experienced with foreskin this area can be manipulated to the point of trembling ecstasy! On average, this skin that is removed will be about 5 square inches and 20,000 nerve ending. That is a lot of feeling fibers.

I have been circumcised for many years now and I know that sex is always good, but with foreskin it is better! I have always wondered why some men do not keep the area clean. I did, and still do. It is so easy, just pull the skin back and rub the area with soap and water. I suppose it is like cleansing a womans clitoral area. Do you clean it like you should?

I think circumcision would be comparable for a woman to have her clitoris completely exposed to the atmosphere. Removing the hood, part of the labia, and any excess tissue that might be in the way. Would you care to have your clit hanging out in the world? It would be uncomfortable for quite some time, but with clothing and hair, and any other object to come in contact with your clit wouldn’t be acceptable to most women.

Think about the callus that would form on the clit or glans and all of the extra foreplay that would be required in order to have a quality sexual experience? There is a callus that is formed on the end of any mans pecker that is circumcised. Think about all of the pecker you might have experienced, the uncircumcised glans was soft and pink while the circumcised ones are generally much more gray, less soft, and less pliable.

Do you know when circumcision became so popular in America? 2 men named Kellogg and Graham – you know them today as the crazy doctor of corn flakes fame, and the man who manufactured crackers had the ‘’bright’’ idea. Their idea caught on because it came at the time when The Christian radicals was taking the nation by storm (yes way back when).

The idea was to keep little boys from masturbating, pulling his pudd, jacking off, jerking off, or playing with himself. Yep, that’s the only reason this bit of mutilation came to pass.

And the time produced inventions that were actually patented that did terrible bodily damage to the little boys’ growing stump for the only purpose to save their male souls, andto stop this nasty, revolting, and perverted activity of little boys. these patented inventions were indorsed by the Christians of their day and these machines were designed to cut, stab, or just crush his Johnson. Is this a reason to do the cutting?

There are men in the world that are messed up by the attending doctor who did this little trim so poorly that corrective surgery has to be done to repair the damage. Another group of men who have been cut back so badly that they must shave their penile shaft so the hair is not growing on it and more in this group of men who have been cut so tight that sex is actually uncomfortable or painful because the skin is just pulled so tightly. I think you would agree this is terrible! The latter group of men is estimated to be more than 1 in 200. That is a lot of men.

You have mentioned the possible link between circumcision and lowering the chance of catching one of the STD’s or AIDS. Shit, keep your pecker in his pants or wear a rubber and odds of catching something that may kill you or embraced you is well worth that piece of pussy.

Keep up the good work, even if you may not know what you are talking about sometimes.

Respectfully,
Dave

PS. I don't wear a shot glass on my pecker, but I am slowly rebuilding my foreskin.

A couple of points: (1) I've never had an uncircumcised boyfriend who wasn't always squeaky clean; and (2) don't knock it until you've tried it. Veeeery sensual. And PS - how would you like to have part of yourself cut off? Absolutely cruel.

If you're uncut be happy. If you're cut be happy. I'm cut and my father was not. Families do what they do. That doesn't make one way wrong or the other way better. Some of you are convinced it is wrong and barbaric And that's fine. Don't have it done to your children. But I don't think it's fair to berate others because they don't agree. And for those who say a cut male will never know the truly heightened pleasure they are missing, you can't miss what you never had.

If you’re uncut be happy. If you’re cut be happy. I’m cut and my father was not. Families do what they do. That doesn’t make one way wrong or the other way better. Some of you are convinced it is wrong and barbaric And that’s fine. Don’t have it done to your children.
Actually the study that indicated that circumcision reduced risk of HIV has been proven to be flawed. I am a circumcised male and due to that mutilation I am unable to feel sex at all. We are not a sex toy sex with circumcised men does not last longer either due to exposure of the glans it actually has been proven to be the cause of the rampant premature ejaculation problem. It is not "cleaner" it's actually disgustingly filthy as it exposes an internal organ to lint and filth that accumulates in ones cloths. I find it horrific that you air on the side of the sexual mutilation of infants. If you forcibly performed this act on an adult male the punishment would be years in prison what makes a child any different? This act is sexual abuse before you air on the side of said action maybe you should see one performed.

Yo MOM! how about you give your child a little tap on the head, or a little slap, or even cut off his lip, or shave his head, or snap off his fingers!? go ahead and do that! seriously?!!!! if i had the authority, i'd put you in jail right now!! I just can't believe it how you claim to have the right to do anything to your child!

And yeah Kinky Jew!!! you seem to be a nice person. but are you nice enough to apologize to all uncircumcised men for what you said about cleanliness?!!!!

moreover! how the hell can anybody have the balls to make his child suffer that surgery! ? it's not ice age anymore people, we're in 2010!!!!

and yeah, btw, kinky jew, you r right, that thing had been on for thousands of years, which in my opinion is enough to change it!!

how can u claim that we are not clean. if we are not clean, that would obvous, our penises wouldn't look right, and bla bla bla... which makes it easier to you to be aware of sex.....

but why wouldn't we clean ourselves out in the first place!!!??? do u really think you care about our cleanliness more than we do?! i wouldn't risk it all to not clean under my foreskin.

i dont wanna be the anti-jew guy here, but trust me, i do know how do you feel, you have no choice about it, and you said that, clearly.

so if you dont even have the choice, why are you anti-uncut?????

see, the problem is not with the article itself - which is you personal experience- but rather with your sick comments.

we are in a free country, true. and everyone has a right for opinion, but NOBODY, AND BY NOBODY I MEAN NOBODY, HAS THE RIGHT TO DECIDE TO CIRCUMCISE HIS CHILD.

it's a matter of few years anyway, before circumcision is banned, legally, and for ever.

back to you MOM, please change your nickname, because you can be good at anything but being MOM.

I would like to start out by saying I'm from the UK, and (as far as I'm aware), everyone I know is intact (bar one Jew, and one guy who had it removed for MEDICAL reasons at the doctor's discretion).
Whilst I agree with the many coments here regarding circumcision being wrong, I would like to make a point to those who say "my husband/ children are fine without their foreskins". They may say this, but you CANNOT use this as an arguement for circumcision, as they have NEVER KNOWN ANY DIFFERENT. In the same way that someone who has had a missing finger from birth has never known what it's like not to have it and therefore doesn't miss it.
If my parents had decided to have me circumcised, I would settle on the other side of this arguement, as it would be all I've ever known. However, ladies, I ask you not to judge our hygene or performance based on whether we are "complete" or not. Just leave the foreskin intact, and have done with it. It's not evil, it's not "extra", it's natural. Just as many have pointed out, a woman's clitoral hood is natural.
I also think it adds to the intimacy of sex. You have to reveal their most sensitive areas (mal or female), and this joint discovery is surely very intimate between the two of you. I personally enjoy revealing my girlfriend's clit when I go down on her, just for the extra sense of "others may have seen you naked, but no-one apart from me has ever been this close to you, explored your body as well as I have".

Finally, at Kinky Jew:
"Awww, funny Brit. Can’t write your own comments without plagerizing. It’s *almost* like you can think for yourself, huh? Almost."
I think the Brit in question was being very clever. By reversing the situation, using the same words, they point out that what's true for one culture may be quite different to another, under the same circumstances. By showing your contempt for them, you reveal an inability in yourself to see both sides of the argument, and I can only assume you are as stubborn in the rest of your life as you are in this. Also, you don't "own" your children. EVER. "Owning" a person is akin to slavery. And forcing your will upon children that are too young to know better, or to young to protest, in any other circumstance, would be considered child cruelty.

I discovered this site today and I enjoyed the articles so far very much.
I don't appreciate the animosity between readers though... It seems that nobody will convince anybody right now.
I agreed and appreciated Mivox's, Champagne's and Dear Redhead's comments, because they were very logical and very true.
There are studies that say a man loses a big percentage of the sensitivity there... Yes, he is still fine, of course he enjoys sex, but it's not as great as it could be. If a man wants to be clean, he will be, whether he has foreskin or not. Plus there are more tricks to do during a blow job when he has it...

This comment hit the spot :
" I think it’s mutilation and that most parents engage in the practice because “it’s what you do” not because it’s anything they’ve researched. Religious implications aside, would you cut off your daughter’s labia straight from the womb?"

People should really think on their own, not just follow anything. If we women want equality (and ooh boy I hope I won't anger the hardcore feminists), then little boys should also have the same treatment on their genitals as little girls.

I really disagree with parents believing they can decide anything for their child until they are 18, but I don't want to have a fight now, so I will not elaborate on the issue. It's a far over-trodden path anyway.

This debate has been good, but both sides I think have said the same things over and over. There is nothing more to say ! :P
